Texas summers are no joke and we are just a few months away from summer. Many days are over 90-degree temperatures! What does that mean for your air conditioner? How do you know if your AC unit is being overworked? Scheduling yearly maintenance is one of the best ways to ensure your AC system is working properly and can prevent you from an expensive repair bill in the middle of the summer heat.
At SouthCoast Heat & Air, we fully inspect and clean your system, and we will provide you with detailed information about your HVAC system so you know when it’s time to replace it, or when you might encounter some expensive repairs. We also have our Comfort Club Membership which is our commitment to care for your business or home. We will complete a 78-Point inspection of your heating and cooling system every year. Your membership includes free leak checks, discounted replacement parts, no after-hours charges, and more!
Here are some signs that your HVAC system may be overworked and in need of repair:
AGE
It’s relatively easy to see when an HVAC system is starting to get old. Air conditioners normally only last about 10-15 years before they will start to need major repairs. Older systems are not energy efficient and are bound to struggle when the heat waves come in. Take a look at the age of your AC unit by looking at the plate/sticker on the side of the unit to get an idea if you need to start saving. If you have any questions, please contact us. We offer a complimentary diagnostic for first-time customers.
CLIMBING UTILITY COSTS
If you notice your utility bills are climbing, that’s a pretty good indication that your AC is no longer working properly. While rate increases are normal, a rapid rise in your electricity bills means you need to have it serviced. We know it’s hard but if you really want to reduce the stress on the system, reduce your energy consumption. That means changing the thermostat to 74 degrees or higher to keep the costs manageable. When you set it lower, it has to work too hard to keep up especially on those days when it’s 100+ degrees outside.
CONSTANT REPAIR NEEDS
A simple repair here and there is to be expected, but major repairs are concerning. If you are constantly needing repairs let our heating and air experts diagnose your system. We want to make sure our clients know what is happening with their air conditioner, and what they can do to fix it. Upgrading to an energy efficient system may be a better investment of your money than constantly patching the air conditioner you currently own.
